Museum Design Firm Chosen and Hired For Arabian Horse Galleries

On Thursday, April 10, the museum design firm Hilfery & Associates was contracted as the official exhibit design firm for the Arabian Horse Galleries.

Hilftery & Associates successfully went through two screenings among a group of highly skilled, world-class museum design firms before winning the bid for the Arabian Horse Galleries.

"Hilferty's skills and budget efficiency fit comfortably with the high standard we are setting to the Arabian Horse Galleries," said Howard Pike, Vice Chairman of the Purebred Arabian Trust and Co-Chairman of the Arabian Horse Galleries. "We're very excited to work with them."

Hilferty & Associates is a leader in both experience design and equestrian story telling. From the earliest days at the Kentucky Horse Park, Kentucky Derby, other breed and sporting museums, to World Heritage sites, the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian, they blend scholarship with immersive environments and compelling interactives.

Of significant note is their decades-long relationship with Design and Productions, Inc., one of the most successful and accomplished exhibit production firms in the United Sates. Design and Productions fabricated some of Hilferty's most renowned projects, including the North Carolina Museum of Natural History and the National Historic Trails Museum. Its role in the Arabian Horse Galleries exhibit development will be to provide turnkey engineering, detailing, fabrication, and installation services for selected exhibit design, including all interactives, scenic, lighting and audiovisual requirements.

Hilferty & Associates will work in tandem with museum curators from the International Museum of the Horse. Arabian Horse Galleries exhibits and layout will be designed through 2008, moved in and set up early 2009, and ready for a June 2009 opening.
