Former Arabian Horse Center Building is Sold

SANTA YNEZ, CA— The sale of the Arabian Horse Center building in Westminster, Colorado closed on August 14, 2008. The sale included the building and 10 acres of accompanying land around it.

The Arabian Horse Center served in the past as headquarters for the Arabian Horse Trust, the Arabian Horse Registry of America and the International Arabian Horse Association. The Arabian Horse Trust provided a home for the preservation and exhibition of items relating to the rich heritage of the Arabian horse, but entered an inactive state in 2001 and began its search for a more suitable location for providing the public with the heritage of Arabian breed.

This search resulted in the Arabian Horse Galleries at the Kentucky Horse Park’s International Museum of the Horse (Lexington, KY), a new 8,000 square foot museum addition currently under construction that will tell the story of the Arabian horse. The Arabian Horse Trust Museum Collection (along with the Arabian Horse Owners Foundation Collection) will be a major portion of the Galleries.

“We are delighted to finally close on this sale [of the Arabian Horse Center building],” said Bob Fauls, chairman of the Purebred Arabian Trust, “because we can quickly execute on our commitment to transfer 100% of the proceeds from this sale to the construction of the Arabian Horse Galleries.”

Mr. Fauls is referring to the Purebred Arabian Trust’s commitment to incorporate the funds from the sale of the Westminster building into the costs of the Arabian Horse Galleries building, thereby continuing the legacy and vision of original Arabian Horse Trust donors to showcase the story of the Arabian horse.

The Purebred Arabian Trust has committed to fully fund the building construction of Arabian Horse Galleries ($4 million), while a development campaign in the Arabian horse community will commence in 2008 to fund the museum interior (exhibit design and fabrication). The Galleries are set to open in 2009.

The Kentucky Horse Park attracts more than 1 million visitors each year from around the world, with an additional 600,000+ visitors expected during the 2010 World Equestrian Games, which the Kentucky Horse Park will be hosting.
